How We Tested the Lifetime Cooler

While we tested the 55‑quart size, the model also comes in 28‑, 48‑, 65‑, 77‑ and 115‑quart versions. The 55‑quart version fits many beverages—no need for an extra wine carrier! Lifetime labels this cooler as bear‑resistant, and the durability lives up to that claim. The construction is extremely sturdy, and the latches that secure the straps keep the unit well‑insulated. It’s an excellent choice for keeping food cool while camping.

We did not find this cooler completely leak‑proof; a steady stream of droplets escaped from the back and left side when the unit was closed and tipped. The front and right sides were less affected. This performance is comparable to the other coolers tested, including the pricier models.
The drain empties very slowly, likely because it sits high in the unit. Fully removing water requires a firm tip, which can be inconvenient. Given the low price, however, this drawback is tolerable, especially since the cooler feels solid and not cheap.
