This past year Glossier introduced a new shade of its cult‑favorite Balm Dotcom in Black Cherry, quickly becoming an editor favorite.
As I mentioned, I have extremely dry lips, and this is the most moisturizing lip product I’ve ever used. It left my lips so hydrated that I began applying it at night before bed. I’m also considering the clear formula so I don’t stain my pillows. The shade is very close to the original, though it has a glossier finish.
The brand describes the formula as “emollient‑rich” and promises hours of hydration — I agree. I did find myself reapplying several times during the day, likely because I loved the feel and couldn’t get enough of it.

If you want an almost exact match, this E.l.f. Cosmetics option delivers. The shade is nearly identical to Black Honey and costs just $6. I was also impressed with the formula; the brand says it contains vitamin E, which proved extremely moisturizing for my dry lips.
The color endures for hours. Even after it “fades,” a subtle tint remains, acting almost like a lip stain.

Nivea’s tinted balm leans brighter and more pink, yet the color is flattering and not far from the desired tint.
It’s a solid choice for those seeking hydrating ingredients, as it’s packed with jojoba seed oil, avocado oil, and shea butter, which the brand recommends applying generously.

If you prefer a true lip balm, Burt’s Bees tinted balm is an excellent option. It offers the benefits of its ingredients while providing a subtle pop of a buildable shade.
As someone who uses balms more often than lipsticks, I appreciated the brand’s classic balm in this deep cherry hue. In fact, I wore Burt’s Bees the most of all the products tested, especially while traveling and needing quick moisture on a plane or during sightseeing. It’s subtle and perfect for daily use.
