Google Merchant Center API Supports Product Reviews

Google has updated its documentation regarding product review data uploads, reversing a previous stance that indicated such data was not supported.

The company also implemented several additional modifications to its help documentation, including adjustments to interface navigation, the onboarding workflow, and procedures for addressing policy disapprovals.

The following details outline the changes made to the reviews section of the API.

API Support Added: The previous documentation explicitly stated that APIs were not supported. The updated version introduces comprehensive support for Google’s Merchant API, allowing for the automated upload and management of review data.

Updated Interface Navigation: Navigation instructions have been transitioned from the legacy Merchant Center path (ANALYTICS > Reviews > Product reviews > Product review dataviews > Product reviews > Manage product review

Clarified Onboarding Process: The new documentation includes a specific step noting that after submitting an interest form, a Google representative must evaluate the application and manually activate the feature within the Merchant Center account.
